Informal portrait of Captain Benjamin Thompson (1834-1904), in retirement, in the garden of his home on Elm Street in Winterport.

Thompson was a deep water ship captain for many years, sailing primarily for the Weld line. His commands included the Progressive Age, Sportsman and the Great Admiral.
