South Portland Public Library Facts

Founded:
The City of South Portland established a Department of Libraries in 1965. The main library was the first structure built towards that end, constructed in 1965. The branch was built later, in 1977.

Collections:
The main branch has 83,267 volumes and the Memorial branch has 18,527. The main library also houses the James Otis Kaler Collection.

Facilities:
The South Portland Public Library operates two facilities. The main library is located on Broadway, and the Memorial Branch is on Wescott Road.
